We now have 22 teams registered for the Championship.  Our fourth Pro team came late Wednesday through the online registration.  I have two other pro teams that have called and a couple of advanced teams have also indicated they will be playing this weekend.

Here’s a quick run down of our sponsors…

Please keep in mind that the above sponsors are what made 100% payback minus PDGA fees possible in all divisions.  It is also allowing for $500 being added to the pro purse.  If we sell some more of the CFR Glow Champion TeeBirds even more money will be added to the pro purse.

Out of State Players Okay

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

I received an email today.  A player was under the impression that you had to be a resident of South Carolina to play in this tournament.  That is not the case.  This is open to anyone whom want to play.

The only thing we ask, that if you are an out of state resident and you win your division, you then move to South Carolina.  JK.

Online Registration

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Online registration closes today.

No more registrations over night or in the mail this morning.

Right now we have 15 spaces left for the Championship.  I received calls from players from across the region.  We’ve had a few pro teams commit to coming Saturday, one mixed team and a couple of advanced teams.

Please try and arrive early on Saturday to ensure a place if your team has not registered.  I will be in Easley Friday afternoon cleaning tee pads and taking care of any last minute details as far as the course is concerned.  I can take registrations Friday if need be.  I will either be in a white Toyata Camry or a Suburban with FindNewsFast.com on the back window.

Possible Big Group

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

With this being a doubles event and the PDGA not allowing for more than five players per tee pad, we’re only allowing a maximum of 72 players/36 teams.  If we don’t have a full field, we would end up having to either break PDGA rules and have six players on a tee pad OR find an observer for the team that wouldn’t be playing with anyone.

I’m open for suggestions to how to best handle that situation.

More Pro Players Coming

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

I received two calls today and one email.  While we’ve not received their registration, two more pro teams have said they are coming to Easley and Seneca to compete in the Doubles Championship.

As of right now we have 21 teams registered and 15 spaces left.  We’re not going to hold any places…if we get a run on registrations I will call those teams that have called or emailed me to let them know space is running short.

Last night over pizza in Seneca with several players we lined up what stock we will have available for sell this weekend and what we will have for CTPs.  There will be at least one CTP per division during round one, two and four.  With round three (Sunday Morning) being alternate shot, there will be no CTP for any one that round.

One of the players coming from Georgia has said he will be bringing some CTP stuff for the event.  So the likely hood is we’ll also have a few CTPs for anyone playing.

We’re up to 21 registered teams for the State Doubles.  Intermediate has 12 teams, Advanced 6 teams and pro has 3 teams.  One player told me tonight he and his partner will be entering in mixed doubles.  I hope to have another couple of teams in mixed and in pro.  Right now with three teams in the pro…it could end up being winner take all.  I hope that’s not the case and we have several teams competing for the pro title.

I taken a lot of space thanking our many sponsors for this event.  They really have made it easier to afford nice players packs and added money to the pro purse.  I also need to thank the players and volunteers that have made my job at TD much easier.

This includes players like…

Josh Burgess; Sarah Stanhope; Aaron Evans; Aaron Cunningham; Jim Cunningham; Mike Weirda; Zack Rogers; Sam Patton; Mark Muran; and Matt Moore.

I also want to thank my wife for putting up with my non-stop talk and planning for this event.  She has also been doing the spread sheets and putting together the list of hotels and making other arrangements.  She will be the nice lady doing sign in and late registration on Saturday.

Please remind other players about this event.  Right now we have space for 15 more teams.  I have discs and t-shirts for 72 players.  Everyone…even the pro players, will receive a players pack of a disc and t-shirt.

We now have 20 teams registered and 16 spaces left.  Intermediate has the largest field with 12 teams, Advanced has five teams and Pro has three teams registered.

I hope to receive some more registrations by the end of the week.  As it looks right now, we should have room for some registrations on Saturday morning.  Online registration closes Wednesday.  If you’re planning on pre-registration please email or call me if you’re going through the mail and putting the registration in the mail Tuesday or Wednesday…so I will know to look for it Friday morning.  I will be staying in Easley on Friday night and not able to go by the PO Box on Saturday morning.

If you like, you can register by paypal and paying my account.  Just call and I’ll give you my paypal account info for registration.

Getting Close

Monday, July 14th, 2008

The State Doubles is now less than a week away.  Seven days from now players will be celebrating their championship while others will be thinking about the birdie putts that got away.

Right now we have 19 teams registered.  I really want to see a full field.  Online registration is available through Wednesday.  Being that advanced and intermediate teams will be paid in merchandise certificates, online registration is great.  Pro teams might want to call me if they’re not in the area.  Any late online registrations means having to float cash until the last check from the PDGA arrives.  I’m confident I can float some cash…just not a bunch if we have several pro teams register online in the next day or two.

If you want to register through the mail I would think you would want your registration in the mail no later than Monday afternoon.

I will be in Seneca for their league Monday night.  I will not be playing in any other leagues this week.  However, I will be driving to Innova on Thursday and that will take me through Easley, Greenville, Spartanburg and other communities.  If you need to get me your registrations or want to buy one of the remaining Glo Champion T-Birds we have left, let me know.

Right now we have 3 pro teams, 5 advanced teams and 11 intermediate teams.  I know of a at least one team planning on playing Mixed Doubles.  Please let all of your disc golf friends know about this tournament.  I would love for a full field.

Nineteen teams have registered which means we have only 17 spaces left.  I still haven’t been by the PO Box since Wednesday morning.  I will get there sometime today and I expect to have a couple of more registrations.

I did receive some phone call inquiries yesterday and all indicated they were going to play but I have yet to receive those registrations.

The PDGA Website is not allowing updates for some reason.  We’ve emailed all of the information to them to update the registrations and that hasn’t happened.  We will continue to update here, on this site.

Area Hotels

My wife contacted several hotels this morning. Please feel free to make a reservation at any hotel you wish. For those of you who are not familiar with the area. Clemson is between Easley and Seneca.
