Triple Team Threat

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

This July Strange Disc Sports and Adam Wright are presenting a very Strange Disc Golf Tournament. It is the first of its kind Triple Team Threat Throw Down. It will be a three-player team tournament. Divisions are AM, Pro and Mixed. Cost to play will be $75 per team or $25 per player for the Mixed and AM division. Cost for pro will be $150 per team or $50 per player. Other than the $5.00 per player that will go to Chattooga Belle Farm for hosting the event, everything will be paid back to the players in form of cash for pro and Strange Change for the Am and mixed division.

There will be side action st this event. I’m not sure if it will take place during the lunch break or following the tournament but you’ll want to be in and you’ll want to win. Simple as that. It’s not a Ring of Fire or a Throw Off. It is something completely different with a chance for the team to win prizes worth over $100. You won’t want to miss. Details to come a little later…

Themed CTPs

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

This year there will be several themed CTPs.  We’ll have a CTP which is a Discraft CTP, Innova CTP, Vibram CTP and a Zanfel CTP.  Working on ABCdisc CTP and one from Lightning.  We’ll have lots of other CTPs too.

Plan is to have a CTP per division for three of the four rounds.  The alternate shot round will have at least two CTPs for the entire field.

If you own or manage a business and want to sponsor a hole, cost is $25.  If you would like to sponsor a CTP for a particular hole or division, cost is $50 (I’ll supply the CTP prize).  We’ll also take some donated CTP prizes.  Right now we’re hoping to have a minimum of 17 CTPs for the tournament.

Sponsorship Growing

Monday, March 21st, 2011

Got word this morning of another returning sponsor for this year’s edition of the SC Doubles Championship. Blue Ridge Electric Coop has signed on again for another year. They were a sponsor in 2008 and 2010. They join Seneca Light & Water, SC Mountain Lakes CVB, Oconee County Parks, Recreation & Tourism and Chattooga Belle Farm as cash sponsors of this year’s event.

Product sponsors of the event include DiscGolfStation.com, Zanfel, Discraft and Innova. Greater Oconee Disc Golf is the sponsor club and Strange Disc Sports will be doing our AM payout this year and online registration.

We’ll have CFR discs available soon. We’ll have Crystal Buzzzes from Discraft and an undetermined Innova CFR disc. The CFR discs will be available for $20 each and will be limited to only 20 of each kind. Once we have them available and for sale, we will post here and on our Facebook page.

If you would like to sponsor the tournament as a main sponsor, hole sponsor or product sponsor, please contact me through the comment section below or through the tournament’s Facebook page. All sponsor’s will receive a sign on a hole each round each day and I will plug all sponsors during player meetings and before awards are given.

Main Sponsorship begins at $250, hole sponsorships cost $25 and CTP sponsorships cost $50. Production sponsor ships require at least two identical items for a CTP prize that will be given away during one of the rounds of play. Hole and division eligibility will be determined by the tournament director.

Another Sponsor

Friday, March 11th, 2011

SC Mountain Lakes CVB has signed on again for the 3rd year in a row as a sponsor of the SC Doubles.  Our financial sponsors are now Seneca Light & Water, Oconee County Parks, Recreation & Tourism, SC Mountain Lakes CVB and Chattooga Belle Farm.

It’s sponsors like these that allow us to offer the great player packs and 100 percent pay back in each division.

DiscGolfStation.com sponsorship

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

DiscGolfStation.com is a product sponsor of this year’s SC Doubles Championship.  They’re sponsors of a Discraft themed CTP.
DiscGolfStation.com logo
They sent us 8 Discraft Discs and 5 birdie bags. There will be at least one CTP for one division or possibly for the entire field that will be for Discraft Discs from DiscGolfStation.com.

We have several things in the works for this year’s tournament. AS we get more sponsors (cash and product) we’ll tell you about them on this site and plug them on our facebook page.

Triple Team Tourney

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

I played in the Strange Disc Tour event Sunday at Timmons in Greenville.  I heard from several players that are disappointed that the SC Doubles will not include a day at Chattooga Belle Farm in Long Creek.  Funny thing is I heard from several players last year that were disappointed that we weren’t using Sertoma Field in Walhalla and disappointed we were playing at Chattooga Belle Farm.

The good news is Chattooga Belle Farm will be host to the first ever Triple Team Tourney in July this year.  It’s a one day team tournament of three player teams.  Strange Disc Sports, GODG, Adam Wright and Chattooga Belle Farm are putting the event on together.  Minus the $5 per player fee to Chattooga Belle Farm, all money paid in for the tournament will get paid out in cash to the pro field and in vouchers for Strange Disc Sports to the mixed and am teams.

The SC Doubles event will look at the possibility of using Sertoma Field, Chattooga Belle Farm, Central or Anderson as a host course for one of the two day tournament.  Seneca will always host one of the two days as long as they continue to financially support the tournament.

If you’ve signed up to be notified by email through the site-registration page of SCdoubles.com, I might have had your email removed. Please sign up again.

The site was overwhelmed with spammers over the past couple of days and I had to remove thousands of registered users of the site when cleaning it up.

Sponsors for 2011

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

This year’s edition of the SC Doubles Championship is still seven months away but several sponsors have already signed on and committed to being part of the event this year. As more come on board, we’ll continue to update this site and several forums where we regularly post about the tournament.

The City of Seneca/Seneca Light and Water has once again decided to be a title sponsor of the event. This year we’re hoping to have a nice disc with just their logo for tournament players. Plans are right now to go with a CFR type disc. Strange Disc Sports is one of our original sponsors and this year will be doing the AM payout with vouchers and will be handling the online registration. Greater Oconee Disc Golf, the local club in Oconee County is the host club, as always. Simply put, this tournament wouldn’t be possible without the efforts and support of the members of the club. Zanfel® is a new sponsor this year. They are the makers of a soap that helps fight/get rid of poison ivy. They’re a product sponsor and will be giving samples to players and a CTP during one of the rounds. If you have always had issues with poison ivy, sumac or oak, click their link on the side column for more information. Disc Golf Station is a product sponsor this year. There will be an awesome Discraft CTP during this year’s tournament. The Discraft CTP is being sponsored/contributed by Disc Golf Station.

Past year’s sponsors SC Mountain Lakes CVB; Oconee County Parks, Recreation and Tourism; Blue Ridge Electric COOP and Hometown Food Store have all indicated that they will sponsor at minimum the same levels as they did in 2010. With less expense then last year (hopefully) with the change of location, we hope to bring a bigger payout in form of total amount given back to players and with the shear amount of CTPs for each division and for the entire field.

Date Set for 2011

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

The SC Doubles for 2011 will be held Saturday and Sunday September 17-18th.  The tournament will be held at Walhalla’s Sertoma Field and Seneca’s Shaver Recreation Center.

The tournament will go back to have four different formats this year and will also be adding divisions.  Right now the plan is to have the tournament be a B Tier event.  However if sponsorship dollars allow, we might move the event to an A tier if possible.

Strange Disc Sports tour stop moved

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

The Strange Disc Sports tour stop in Union, SC at River Chase has been moved to Timmons Park in Greenville.  I don’t know the reason(s) for the change, I just know the tournament has been moved.

Strange Disc Sports puts on great events and plans are to have them be part of the SC Doubles again this year.
