Two weeks away

July 7th, 2008

The Doubles Championship is two weeks away.  As of right now we have eight teams registered.  Please get your registration in as soon as you can.  Online registration is available through the PDGA website.

We’re selling Glo Champion Tee Birds to raise money for the event.  I have 20 left in stock.  The discs looks good and will be a keep.  If you register online, you can also purchase one then.  Cost is $25.00.

I can’t hold places

July 2nd, 2008

I’ve received some phone calls and a couple of emails with people asking me to ‘hold’ them a place in the tournament.  Most of these requests are coming from players I know and most I consider friends.  With that being said, I can’t hold places without money.

I’ve had requests for information from players in TN, GA, NC and SC.  Three of the 12 players registered are from out of state.  While I welcome players from every where to come and enjoy the event, I do hope that some folks from SC win the event…being that it is the SC State Doubles Tournament.

I will be at the Firecracker Fling on Saturday taking registrations and selling tournament discs.  I will also be at the Easley doubles league tomorrow night (July 2nd) if anyone wants to register tomorrow.

Online registration is also available through the PDGA and through a link in the right sidebar of this site.

A quick update.  With this being a doubles event the PDGA TD Report doesn’t currently have a way for us to upload player information easily to the PDGA website for folks to see if we’ve received their registration.  I’m told they will have a way for us to get this done soon.

Either-way…I will continue to update the players whom have registered on this site.  I will update players daily.

Update on Registration

June 26th, 2008

We now have four teams registered for the tournament.  Two Advanced Teams and two Intermediate Teams.  Only 32 teams positions left.

Thanks to our main sponsors of the event…WSNW Radio; Easley Combined Utilities; and Seneca Light & Water.

Champion Glo Tee Bird

June 25th, 2008

Champion Glo Tee Bird is the disc we are selling to held raise money for the event.  The cost is $25 per disc.  I will have these discs available at the Firecracker Fling in Easley on July 5th.  We’ve presold a couple of discs already and with only 25 discs available for the event, make sure when you register online or via mail that you include money for the Champion Glo Tee Bird.

Once again, online registration is available here.

I want to thank are main sponsors as much as possible.  They are:

WSNW Radio

Seneca Light & Water

Easley Combined Utilities

These three sponsors are the ones that have paid for the players pack and the trophies.  Other sponsors include: PartyWright.com, English Homes, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, and TEAM Over the Top.  With out these sponsors, the event just would be a weekend of disc golf action.  They’ve allowed us to have really nice players pack for all players and have allowed for really nice trophies.

We are hoping for a couple of more sponsor so we can purchase two traveling trophies for the Pro Champions.

Registration Update

June 25th, 2008

Here are the paid registrations so far:

Advanced

Mike Farnham & Mike Doyle

David Crain & Ryan Crain

Intermediate

Adam Wright & Aaron Evans

Danny Marks & Robert Ellisor (Team BloFly)

As stated in an earlier post, online registration is now available here

I’ve played several leagues the past couple of weeks and have been promoting the event as much as I can.  Lots of players from Georgia expressed an interest when I played the Toccoa league last week.  In Seneca, most league players are expecting to enter a team.  With three teams having paid and many others saying there going to play with promises of getting registration fees to me soon, I do expect a full field for this event.

There are only spaces for 72 players/36 teams.  Right now we’ve got trophies for Pro, Advanced, Intermediate and Mixed.  We need to have a minimum of three teams per any other division to have trophies made for that division.  We also need any other division to have players signed up (with a minimum of three teams) to have time to order trophies for those divisions.  At this time the only division that we think might have enough teams is Masters.

My idea with Mixed Doubles was to allow players whom have a spouse or significant other that enjoy playing to play together.  The PDGA informed me that we need to classify the mixed doubles in divisions.  I had them listed as Advanced Mixed Doubles.  If there is a team that would like to compete as pro Mixed Doubles, please email me or call me so we can see how we can make this work.

Also a reminder…all entry fees are being paid back 100% (minus the PDGA fee for a B tier event) and we will have added cash to the pro division and possibly added money to the other divisions.

With landed several sponsors for the event and expect a couple of more sponsors soon.

You Can Now Register Online

June 25th, 2008

Online registration is now available through the PDGA.  For what ever reason, the link is not coming up on the PDGA Tour page next to our listing but you can link to the online registration right here.

We’ve now had inquiries from players in George, North Carolina, Tennessee and South Carolina.  A friend from Minnesota has even hinted he may be interested in coming down for a visit to play in the event.

When registering online you will have the option of sponsoring a hole for the event or making a donation to the event.  You’ll also have the option of purchasing a tournament mini and/or a tournament Champion Glo TeeBird.  We only have a limited number of TeeBirds.  Price is $25 with 100% of the TeeBird price going to the purse.

Please register earlier for this event.  We expect a full field for this event and I would hate for you miss out on being part of the first ever South Carolina State Doubles Championship.

Player’s Pack

June 19th, 2008

Due to the sponsors of the State Doubles Championship, 100% of player’s entry fees will be paid out with additional money being added to the pro purse.  We reached the tipping point when we landed another sponsor this morning.

Sponsors of the Championship include…

WSNW Radio 1150 AM

Seneca Light and Water

Easley Combined Utilities

Blue Ridge Electric

PartyWright.com

English Homes

TEAM Over the Top

We still are working on more sponsors and are gearing up for a great weekend of doubles action in the Upstate.

We are still waiting on the PDGA to get the online registration up and going.  We were first told it would be up two weeks ago and then promised last Thursday it would be up no later than this past Monday.  As soon as the online registration is up and available I will post here and on the Upstate Club’s forum.

You can still do it the old fashioned way and mail in your registration.  We have several more teams that have registered.  I fully believe we will fill this tournament.  All but one team registered are from outside the upstate.

Registration

June 13th, 2008

We finally talked with the online registration person with the PDGA.  He assured me that the online registration will be up no later than Monday afternoon and most likely by (this) Friday afternoon.

When registering online you’ll have the option of purchasing a CFR Champion Glo TeeBird with the tournament logo, a tournament mini, sponsoring a hole or making a donation to the tournament.

We’ve only ordered 25 CFR discs and 25 minis.  So tournament stamped discs will be limited in quantity.

We are seeking about 5-7 more hole sponsors to get us to our goal to secure this event as a ‘B tier’ event.  If you own a business or you think your company would be interested in sponsoring the event, please drop me an email and I will forward you sponsorship information.
